Tomato seedlings are in!

This year I am doing sweet 100 again (red cage), cherokee purple, better boy, and mr. stripey. I'm excited to see these new varieties!

Iris

First sign of irises this year... They seem to love their spot facing south next to the house. The other irises in the yard haven't send up buds yet.

Ernie's favorite time of year

This spring has the birds chirping and the grass as green and fluffy as ever... A perfect place for dog naps.

Screened Porch is complete

After many labor-filled weekends, we finally closed off our patio to un-wanted bugs and pests! This patio is my happy place, where I spend countless hours enjoying my yard/garden, reading, web-surfing, and entertaining... next step: add a doggy door for Ernie :)

Baby Squirrel Problems

Two little baby squirrels showed up in my yard last week, and luckily we found them before my dog did! I did some research and discovered that the Momma squirrel often moves her babies between nests one at a time - so I made them a comfy nest and hoped for her to retrieve them... She claimed one baby during the night, but mother nature took the other ;-(

Black Raspberries

These black raspberries were here when I moved in and are a wonderful early summer treat! After some painful pruning this spring, they are looking healthy and happy.

What a difference one year makes!

Tulips

These two tulips are remnants from my home's previous owner's garden. After this year I hope to dig up the bulbs and move them to the front yard.

Sugar Snap Peas

My favorite garden snack. This year I learned from my mistakes and planted next to a tall trellis!

2012 garden re-model

We added a new sturdy fence and built an 8ft. trellis this spring; I can not wait to see what this summer's adventures in gardening will bring! Stay tuned!
